Create soft, natural looks for everyday beauty
Want to update your style but still maintain you individuality? Many of us think that by changing our hair we'll lose a sense of who we are. But a new look doesn't have to mean a drastic change, says New York City stylist Maria de Los Angèles. Here are ways to keep your natural look with simple, stunning twists.
Stick straight locks
Using your fingers, comb styling cream through towel-dried hair. Blow-dry in small sections from root to tip using a round brush. Be sure to point the dryer down, with your brush on the underside of your hair. Once hair is completely dry (even a little moisture and cause frizz,) finish with smoothing cream.
Casual updo
Start by teasing the hair with a small brush or comb. Pull hair back into a loose pony-tail at the nape of the neck. Twist the hair and sweep it up so that the ends are facing up. Secure it with a large clip or with long hairpins. Pull a few short hairs out around the face to soften the look, and mist with hairspray.
Corkscrew curls
Rub a generous dollop of gel between your hands and apply evenly to wet hair. Twirl small sections around your index finger to create ringlets around your head (don't forget the back.) Either air-dry or use a diffuser to gently dry hair without blowing out the curls. Once hair is dry, apply a light hairspray and don't touch!
Bed head
Use mousse on straight hair to add lift and texture without weighing hair down. After towel drying, turn your head upside down and scrunch the product in. Twist and clip your hair in large sections, and then use a diffuser to gently blow-dry. Remove the clips and scrunch the hair once with anti-frizz cream. Resist the urge to brush or run your fingers through your hair, which will pull out your style.
